Along With Joy-Con Drift, What Does Nintendo Have To ‘Fix’ With ‘Switch 2’?

Cases that Don’t Crack, Screens that Don’t Scratch

From the early days of the Nintendo Switch, reports of scratched screens and warping cases have been common, with the worst cases resulting in cracks. While these teething problems are to be expected with new hardware, it’s hoped that Nintendo has learned enough from the past six years to avoid these issues with any new hardware launches.

‘Switch 2’ Wishlist

Here’s a look at some desired features…

An OLED Screen from the Start

An OLED screen in the next handheld from Nintendo would be a great addition. The vibrant colors and high contrast of the OLED model’s gorgeous screen have set the bar high, and it would be disappointing if the new Switch didn’t match up.

Decent In-built Voice Chat

A convenient in-built voice chat system on the console itself would be a welcome addition rather than relying on external apps for online play.

Non-fiddly Cart Slot Cover

An easier-to-use and less fiddly cart slot cover would improve the user experience.

More Internal Storage

Increasing the onboard memory to at least 1TB would be beneficial, especially with the growing size of game files.

Analogue Triggers

Improved analogue control for racing games and other titles would enhance the gaming experience.

Bringing back the social fun of StreetPass and its associated games would be a great addition to Nintendo’s new hardware.

Slicker Online, and Adios to Friend Codes

Improving the online experience and simplifying the friend-adding process would be welcome changes for the new console.

Aside from these desired features, ensuring the migration of Nintendo Switch Online subscription offerings and retaining quality-of-life functions through firmware updates are essential for a positive user experience with the new console.

The future ‘Switch 2’ should build upon the foundation laid by the current one and address the shortcomings without losing the progress made so far.
