Eddy Gordo Is Tekken 8’s First DLC Fighter, Opening Cinematic Released

Bandai Namco has recently unveiled the opening cinematic for Tekken 8, giving fans a glimpse of what’s to come as the game’s release approaches. Alongside this exciting reveal, the publisher has also announced that the iconic Eddy Gordo will be the first addition to the Season 1 DLC roster.

The opening cinematic is a visually stunning display, staying true to Tekken’s signature style while also embracing the franchise’s penchant for over-the-top action. The video showcases the main characters engaging in intense martial arts battles, culminating in a showdown reminiscent of the epic Wakanda fight scene from Avengers: Infinity War.

Notably, the cinematic concludes with the momentous revelation of Eddy Gordo’s return to the roster this spring. Since his debut in Tekken 3, Eddy has been a polarizing figure due to his mastery of Capoeira, making his comeback a highly anticipated event for fans eager to see his updated moveset in action.

Fans are also treated to a sneak peek at the behind-the-scenes work that went into capturing Eddy’s movements and animations for Tekken 8. As the first of four characters set to be introduced throughout the year, Eddy will be available to players who purchase the Year 1 Season Pass or own the Deluxe, Ultimate, or Collector’s Editions of the game.

Tekken 8 is set to launch on January 26 for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC. For more details on the game’s Story mode and Arcade mode, be sure to check out our in-depth impressions!
