Enshrouded – How To Cast Spells

Enshrouded: A Guide to Casting Spells

Enshrouded allows players to engage in intense combat using magical spells. However, before you become a master wizard, there are certain steps you need to follow. Here’s our comprehensive guide on how to cast spells in Enshrouded.

Acquiring a Magical Staff or Cane

To cast spells in Enshrouded, you first need to obtain a staff or cane weapon, as well as some spell charges. Here’s how you can do this:

Magic staves and canes can either be looted or crafted. These weapons are often found inside treasure chests, so be sure to explore thoroughly. Additionally, you can craft them through the Alchemist NPC once you’ve rescued him. If you need assistance with this objective, you can refer to our Alchemist location guide.

You’ll sometimes find staves inside treasure chests.

Obtaining Spell Charges

Spell charges can be obtained as loot inside chests and containers, or crafted via the Alchemist. Here are a few early-game examples:

  • Fireball I – Requires 10x Resin, 1x Tar, and 2x Bonemeal.
  • Ice Bolt – Requires 2x Water and 5x Shroud Liquid.

Using Magic Spells

Once you have a magical weapon and spell charges, it’s time to cast spells in Enshrouded. Here’s a step-by-step guide on using magic spells:

  • Assign the magical weapon (staff or cane) to an action hotkey and ensure your character is holding the item.
  • Keep spell charges in your backpack inventory. If space is an issue, consider upgrading your backpack inventory size.
  • Select the staff/cane and press and hold the right mouse button, “Q” key (keyboard), or left trigger/LT (gamepad).
  • Your character will assume a aiming pose, allowing you to choose from the various spell charges in your inventory.
  • Press the left mouse button or right trigger/RT button to cast the selected spell. Note that “channeling” spells (e.g. Heal Channel) require you to hold the button down for a brief period.
  • Spells use mana, which is indicated by the blue bar below the green HP bar. Mana regenerates over time and there are potions that provide regenerative boosts.

Remember, spell charges are consumed per cast, so it’s important to have a steady supply. Additionally, the Alchemist offers additional side quests that unlock more crafting options as you progress in the game.
