Nexon Announces Shutdown of Fantasy PvP Game Warhaven

After just a few months of early access on Steam, Nexon has confirmed the end of online services for their free-to-play fantasy PvP game, Warhaven.

Early Access and User Reception

Warhaven was first introduced in early access on Steam in September 2023, allowing players to immerse themselves in fast-paced combat with a variety of unique soldiers across different maps. Despite the game receiving a “Mixed” user rating based on nearly 6,900 reviews, there are still dedicated fans showing their support for the game.

Nexon’s Announcement

In a recent news post on Steam, Nexon expressed their decision with a heavy heart: “Today, we are here to announce with a heavy heart that we will be concluding the live services of Warhaven. From the first alpha test in 2021 to the global early access in 2023, Warhaven has come this far, thanks to everyone’s love and support. We want to express our gratitude for the love and care you have shown for Warhaven.”

The End of Warhaven

Nexon went on to apologize for the closure, stating, “We apologize that we could not come to you with better news.” Despite acknowledging the game’s shortcomings, they expressed deep gratitude for the support from fans and the warm affection towards the game.

Upcoming Shutdowns

Not only is Warhaven facing shutdown, but it was also recently announced that the mobile Nier game, Nier Reincarnation, will be shutting down on April 29. Its final story chapter is set to be released before the shutdown, bringing an end to the current story arc, The People and the World.
