Kojima Productions Is Working On A New ‘Action Espionage’ Game With Sony

Hideo Kojima Announces New “Action Espionage” Game

Following the release of the latest Death Stranding 2 trailer at Sony’s State of Play livestream, Hideo Kojima of Kojima Productions revealed some exciting news. He announced that his company, in collaboration with Sony, is developing a brand new IP. This new game will fall under the genre of “action espionage,” as described by Kojima himself.

This genre may sound familiar to fans of Kojima’s work, particularly to those who have followed his previous global hit, Metal Gear Solid. Released in 1998, Metal Gear Solid was famously labeled as “Tactical Espionage Action.” In simpler terms, it is a stealth game.

While Kojima’s return to the stealth genre is highly anticipated, it’s important to note that the development is still in its early stages. Kojima has mentioned that the focus will initially be on the release of Death Stranding 2, which is expected to hit the market in 2025.

Additionally, Kojima made some intriguing comments about the new game, hinting at its cinematic nature. According to Kojima, the game will resemble a movie in various aspects such as its look, story, theme, cast, acting, fashion, and sound. He expressed his hope that this new project will help “transcend the barriers between film and video games.”
