How to Obtain Bait in Raft

You need Bait to catch rare fish in Raft, which can be exchanged for Trade Coins, the trading currency for valuable items at the Trading Post on large islands.

While it is possible to progress through the game without using Bait and trading, it can make survival more challenging.

Acquiring Bait in Raft

Before obtaining Bait, you must first acquire a Recycler and create Trash Cubes.

It is advisable to craft at least 4-5 Trash Cubes to ensure an adequate supply of Bait initially.

Utilize the Receiver to locate large islands, identified as green dots on the screen. These islands may feature a Trading Post, recognizable by its small hut and lively music.

Approach the cashier box at the Trading Post and press “E” to access the trading panel. Here, you can trade Trash Cubes and Trade Coins for various items, including Bait.

During the initial trade, you can only exchange Trash Cubes for Simple Fishing Bait.

It is recommended to trade all Trash Cubes for Bait, as saving them at this point serves no purpose.

Each Trash Cube provides 4 units of Simple Fishing Bait.

Once back at your raft, equip a Fishing Rod, select the Simple Fishing Bait, and cast your line to catch rare fish. These fish can then be sold at the Trading Post for Trade Coins and reputation points.

With enough rare fish and reputation points, you can progress to level 2 or 3 at the Trading Post and acquire upgraded Bait, like Advanced Fishing Bait and Expert Fishing Bait.

Similar to Simple Fishing Bait, you receive 4 units of Advanced Bait per Trash Cube.

Each type of Bait enables you to catch different categories of rare fish, classified into 3 tiers based on the Bait used.

• Tier 1 rare fish: grants 1 Trade Coin and 10 reputation points.
• Tier 2 rare fish: provides 1 Trade Coin and 100 reputation points.
• Tier 3 rare fish: yields 2 Trade Coins.

Reaching level 2 at the Trading Post necessitates 300 reputation points, attainable by selling 30 tier 1 rare fish, costing 8 Trash Cubes in total.

To achieve the maximum level 3, you need to amass 3000 reputation points.
