A duo of fraudulent listings for Helldivers 2 appeared on Steam, tricking some players into believing that the game had undergone a significant price reduction on the platform. The developers of two indie games replicated the actual Helldivers 2 page on Steam, showcasing substantial discounts of 50% and 75%. Unfortunately, unsuspecting players who purchased these games ended up with Figurality and Do Not Smile instead.

Helldivers 2 is still full price, Arrowhead clarifies

Arrowhead Game Studios, the developers of Helldivers 2, expressed their frustration on their Discord channel regarding the scam. The studio was alarmed by how the developers of the indie games managed to modify not only the store descriptions but also the developer and publisher information to imitate the Helldivers 2 page.

Twitter user Wario64 shared screenshots revealing that the scammers listed Arrowhead as the developer and PlayStation as the publisher.

Following the incident, Steam promptly removed the fake listings, but the ease with which scammers were able to deceive customers raised concerns.

Arrowhead issued a statement urging players to avoid any products not officially associated with them: “People posing as us to deceive individuals is disheartening and frustrating. For your safety and to prevent falling victim to scams, please steer clear of these fake listings. The only legitimate Helldivers 2 products we offer are Helldivers 2 and Helldivers 2 Super Citizen Edition.”
