Attention Xbox Insiders! A new Xbox Update Preview is rolling out to the Alpha ring today.

It’s crucial to note that these preview OS builds come with background enhancements to ensure a stable and high-quality build for Xbox consoles. We will continue to provide these release notes, even if the changes to the UI are subtle or behind the scenes, so you’re always informed about updates coming to your device.

  • Available: 2 p.m. PT – March 11, 2024
  • Mandatory: 3 a.m. PT – March 12, 2024

Experience Changes

Check out the following experience or feature updates included in this Xbox Update Preview.

Microsoft Edge – Sidebar

  • To enhance stability, first-party hub apps like Copilot Chat, Outlook, Teams, Games, and the capability to add websites to the sidebar, along with the section in Settings, are being removed. Key features like shopping and browsing remain available.

Fixes Included

Thanks to the valuable feedback from Xbox Insiders and the hard work of Xbox engineers, the following fixes have been implemented in this build:


  • Improvements made to narrator readout in the guide when viewing friends and making friendship-related changes.

Capture & Share

  • Fixes addressing an unexpected error in the guide while viewing recent captures.

Network Transfer

  • Fixes for an unexpected error that could occur when initiating a network transfer if content already exists.

Settings – Subscriptions

  • Fixes for an unexpected error that could occur when viewing subscriptions.


  • Various updates to accurately reflect local languages across the console.

Known Issues

While known issues may have been listed in previous Xbox Insider Release Notes, they are actively being worked on! If you encounter any of these issues, please follow any provided guidance and file feedback using Report a Problem.


  • Some users have reported intermittent audio issues across the dashboard, games, and apps.
    • Troubleshooting: Ensure your TV and all other equipment have the latest firmware installed. Contact the manufacturer for assistance if needed. Additional troubleshooting tips can be found here.
    • Feedback: If issues persist, submit feedback via Report a Problem under “Console experiences” and “Console Audio Output Issues” while experiencing the issue.


  • We are investigating reports of a network connection issue on boot. Wait momentarily for the connection to establish, and if needed, restart your Xbox and file feedback using Report a Problem.
