Balatro Sells 1 Million Copies and Announces Mobile Ports
In a surprising turn of events, Balatro has reached the impressive milestone of selling 1 million copies in less than a month. Developer LocalThunk is not stopping there, as they have announced plans to release mobile versions of the poker roguelite game.
The news of reaching 1 million copies sold was shared by the official Balatro account on X (formerly known as Twitter). Additionally, LocalThunk confirmed during a Reddit AMA that they are working on mobile ports for both Android and iOS. What’s interesting to note is that the developer is handling these new versions internally, rather than outsourcing the process.

LocalThunk has also hinted at upcoming updates for Balatro, stating, “I have a lot of ideas for directions to take Balatro.” Despite the evolving nature of the game, the developer is focused on adding more options, opportunities for emergence, and secrets rather than increasing complexity.
Since its sudden rise to fame, Balatro has captivated players with its unique blend of poker and roguelite mechanics. The game features 150 distinct Joker cards, a campaign mode with eight difficulty levels, and daily challenges. Its retro-inspired CRT visual style has also garnered attention.
GameSpot’s review of Balatro describes it as a captivating experience that keeps players coming back for more. The game is currently available on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and Nintendo Switch.
