Final Fantasy XVI The Rising Tide DLC Release Date Set

The Final Fantasy XVI The Rising Tide DLC Release Date

The highly anticipated release date for the Final Fantasy XVI The Rising Tide DLC has been announced, and fans can expect it as soon as April 18th. This second premium expansion will not only bring exciting new content to the game but also include a free update with various quality-of-life enhancements for all players.

The Rising Tide DLC will be available for purchase separately for $19.99, or players can opt for the Expansion Pass, which includes both The Rising Tide and the previously released Echoes of the Fallen expansion. In addition to the new content, those who purchase either the DLC or the Expansion Pass will receive bonus in-game items, such as a reimagined version of the “Curtana” weapon and two exclusive background music Orchestrion Rolls: “Torn from the Heavens” and “Through the Maelstrom.”

Set before the conclusion of Final Fantasy XVI, The Rising Tide delves into a gripping narrative where Clive and his companions embark on a mission to Mysidia to rescue the Dominant of Leviathan, the long-lost Eikon of Water. The addition of this new content will see the game’s level cap raised to level 60 for the initial playthrough and level 110 in New Game+.

Explore the new area of Mysidia, described as “a lost oasis untouched by the ever-encroaching Blight,” and face new challenges like the infamous tonberries in the ruined Aire of Hours stage. Prepare for an epic showdown as Clive takes on the mighty Leviathan.

Joining the adventure is a new ally named Shula, who will prove to be a valuable asset with his Eikonic Abilities of Leviathan the Lost, allowing him to manipulate water to defeat enemies. The powerful Serpent’s Cry feat summons a sea-spitting serpent to deal precise damage to foes from a distance.

Upon completion of the DLC and main game, players can access the new Kairos Gate end-game mode, featuring 20 challenging stages filled with waves of enemies. Accumulate points based on battle performance and utilize them, along with new materials and weapons, to enhance Clive’s abilities.

Announced during a recent PAX East panel, The Rising Tide will launch alongside the Ver. 1.30 update, introducing a range of quality-of-life improvements such as:

  • Quick Complete function for immediate return to quest givers
  • Updated icons for important character quests
  • New Skill Set feature for saving up to five unique Feat and Ability sets
  • Adjustments to Abilities and Accessories for improved usability
  • Customizable button layouts with the new “Custom” controller type
  • Enhancements to Photo Mode including tone correction and screen effects
  • Additional orchestrion rolls for more musical enjoyment
