Final Fantasy 7 Remake Part 3 development has officially begun and the director is ready to be “done with this absolute marathon of projects”

Square Enix Begins Development on Final Fantasy 7 Remake Trilogy Conclusion

Square Enix has officially started the development process for the third and final part of the highly anticipated Final Fantasy 7 Remake trilogy.

During a Special Talk Session on Square Enix’s Music YouTube channel, Final Fantasy 7 Remake and Rebirth director Tetsuya Nomura, scenario writer Kazushige Nojima, and composer Nobuo Uematsu discussed the ongoing trilogy and the recent release of Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth.

The developers delved into various aspects in the video, such as Uematsu’s contributions to the Final Fantasy series, the creation of Aerith’s theme song, and the addition of the character Vincent Valentine halfway through development.

At one point, Uematsu acknowledges the challenges of revisiting a project from decades ago with new technology and for a new generation. Nomura reflects on the commitment required for a project of this magnitude, emphasizing the exhaustive nature of the development process.

Nomura expresses his desire to conclude the trilogy due to its immense scale, stating, “Personally, I want to be done with this absolute marathon of projects.”

Despite Uematsu’s previous statement about not composing another full game, he indicates his willingness to return for the final installment of the Remake trilogy, noting that it would be an honor.

Confirmation of the development of the final part of the trilogy comes later in the video, with Nomura and Nojima already deep into the process and “off to the races.”

In a light-hearted moment, Nomura challenges Uematsu to exceed his previous compositions for the trilogy, to which the composer humorously responds, “For starters, I’m gonna take a vacation.”
