How to Acquire Helltide Threat and Baneful Hearts in Diablo 4 PTR

Players exploring the Diablo 4 PTR have been treated to a variety of new mechanics that enhance the gameplay experience, particularly in events like Helltide, which introduces fresh elements such as Helltide Threat and Baneful Hearts. Ready your weapons and dive into the world of monster hunting as we guide you on obtaining Threat and Baneful Hearts in Diablo 4 PTR.

How to Obtain Helltide Threat in Diablo 4 PTR

Starting with Helltide Threat, this resource is relatively easier to obtain compared to Baneful Hearts. Unlike the tangible item Baneful Hearts, Helltide Threat is more of a state represented by a bar located below the Aberrant Cinders count.

This Threat bar fills up as you defeat enemies in the region. The speed at which it fills is dependent on the strength of the enemies you face. However, do note that the bar fills up slowly, requiring a significant amount of time to reach maximum capacity. Additionally, if you perish, you lose any accumulated Helltide Threat.

Surviving encounters with Helltide enemies allows you to fill all three sections of the bar, each representing a distinct Tier. Completing each Threat Tier triggers a swarm of enemies to challenge you, with Tier 3 boasting the highest density of monster spawns. Upon filling the bar entirely and becoming Hell-Marked, you must face a Hellborne Boss. Defeating this boss yields valuable rewards.

Acquiring Baneful Hearts involves a few additional steps but is a more straightforward process. Unlike dropped items, Baneful Hearts are discovered within Tortured Gifts Chests. Accumulating a minimum of 75 Aberrant Cinders from fallen foes is necessary to trigger the appearance of these chests, facilitating the acquisition of Baneful Hearts in tandem with Helltide Threat.

Players must then bring three Baneful Hearts to an Accursed Ritual location marked on the map. At the Accursed Ritual site, present the hearts at Accursed Altars to initiate a boss battle against a formidable foe known as the Blood Maiden. Emerging victorious in this battle grants rare rewards for your arsenal. It’s worth noting that players can also contribute Baneful Hearts to aid fellow adventurers.

The challenge level of obtaining Helltide Threat and Baneful Hearts varies based on the World Tier you’re tackling in Diablo 4. While World Tiers 3 and 4 offer superior rewards, it’s advisable to approach these Helltide mechanics alongside a group of comrades. Attempting to solo World Tier 4 resulted in numerous Helltide Threat resets, a frustrating experience that I do not recommend. Join forces with allies and secure your Helltide rewards!
