Gorgeous hiking adventure A Highland Song returns to the hills with free Harmony content update

Exploring the Highlands with A Highland Song’s Free Harmony Update

Inkle Studios, the team behind 80 Days and Heaven’s Vault, has released a free Harmony update for A Highland Song, their acclaimed hiking adventure game. This update brings new stories, new music, and more to entice players back into the rolling Scottish hills.

A Highland Song, initially launched late last year on Switch and PC, follows the story of teenager Moira McKinnon as she escapes her secluded life on the edge of the Scottish Highlands after receiving an invitation from her uncle to visit his lighthouse on the coast.

The game offers a unique blend of gentle narrative and exploratory platforming, with multiple potential routes for players to guide Moira through. Each route reveals new stories and secrets, encouraging replayability. Eurogamer’s Chris Tapsell described it as “deeply, richly evocative and poetic” in his four-star review.

The Harmony update introduces a Landmarks system, allowing players to track the names of peaks and paths they’ve explored previously to aid in future discoveries. Additionally, this update includes five new tracks from folk musicians Talisk and Fourth Moon, as well as a few new story surprises for players to uncover.

To celebrate the release of the Harmony update, Inkle has discounted A Highland Song by 30% for a limited time. Until next Thursday, 16th May, the game is available on Steam and Switch for £10.49, down from its usual price of £14.99.
