The highly anticipated Dawntrail expansion for Final Fantasy XIV is on the horizon, and the recent Live Letter stream has unveiled some exciting insights into the upcoming abilities and reworks for both new and existing Jobs in the game.

FFXIV Dawntrail DPS Abilities

The DPS role is set to receive a range of new abilities and reworks across all Jobs, with specific focus on significant overhauls to some Jobs’ kits. Notably, all DPS Jobs will see enhancements to Second Wind’s healing potency and Feint’s duration once they reach level 90.

Melee DPS

  • Monk
    • Basic combo mechanics will now prioritize action order over maintaining buffs or damage over time effects.
    • The job’s feel will remain consistent while offering clarity in rotation interruptions.
    • Ability to accumulate up to ten chakra during active Brotherhood to prevent overflow.
  • Dragoon
    • Positional requirements for single-target combos will be reduced with the introduction of Drakesbane as a new non-directional action.
    • Enhanced damage output at the start of battles with immediate access to Life of the Dragon.
    • Streamlined inputs during burst damage phases through action adjustments.
  • Ninja
    • Permanent Huton effect through a trait.
    • Transformation of Huton into an AOE attack granting the hidden effect.
    • Adjustments to actions extending Huton’s duration.
  • Samurai
    • Simplified recast management with Tsubame-gaeshi now usable after Meikyo Shisui.

    • Transformation of Mage’s Ballad, Army’s Paeon, and Wanderer’s Minuet into buffing abilities.
    • Pitch Perfect changed to an AoE attack for better multiple enemy encounters.
  • Machinist
    • Enhanced Barrel Stabilizer mechanics for increased Heat Gauge efficiency.
    • Addition of a Drill charging trait.
  • Dancer
    • Inclusion of new actions post Flourish and Technical Finish respectively.

FFXIV Dawntrail Tank Abilities

The Tank role in Final Fantasy XIV will see quality-of-life improvements in the Dawntrail expansion, with enhancements to Rampart and job-exclusive damage reduction abilities post level 90. Reprisal will also benefit from a duration extension to 15 seconds at level 90, along with exciting new tools for each Tank Job.
