Stardew Valley – Where to Get Pale Ale

Quests in Stardew Valley can either be really fun or incredibly tedious chores. One quest that can be annoying is the one where you have to get pale ale for Pam.

It wouldn’t be annoying if the process wouldn’t take at least 13 days. Since you get the quest on the 14th day of Summer, you have a short time to plant what you need and make the pale ale.

Where to Get Pale Ale in Stardew Valley

There are only two ways to get pale ale in Stardew Valley:

  • Make it at the keg using hops
  • Purchase it for 1000g at the Ginger Island Resort

Pale Ale from Kegs

The normal way you would get pale ale in Stardew Valley is by raising hops and leaving them in a keg for a few days. Unfortunately, hops take a really long time to grow. To plant and grow hops, you can head over to Pierre’s shop or Joja Mart during the Summer to buy hops starter seeds.

Hops are a crop that grows in 11 days but will yield resources every day once it’s grown. This means that, if you want to truly profit from hops and get the largest amount of pale ale, you will need to plant them from the first day of Summer.

Also, hops are a Summer crop, so players can’t raise them in any other season. Usually, if you plant them on the 1st day of Summer, you should get around 17 hops until the end of the season.

Now, if you want to build a keg, you will need at least level 8 in Farming. That is when you will unlock the recipe for the keg. Luckily, you can also get a keg as a reward by completing the Artisan Bundle at the Community Center.

You should be able to get all the necessary resources for the bundle once you reach your first Summer in Pelican Town.

To get pale ale in Stardew Valley, place one of the hops inside the keg and wait for around 1 to 2 days for it to turn into the beverage. Using other crops, you can make many other alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks at the keg, such as beer, wine, and coffee.

Purchase Pale Ale

Unfortunately, some players don’t want to spend time growing hops, or they passed Summer and have a long time until they can grow them again. Luckily, you can get pale ale in Stardew Valley by purchasing it at the Ginger Island Resort.

If you haven’t reached Ginger Island yet, then this might not be the best mission for you. However, if you have, one of the first buildings you can make on the island is the resort.

Players can make it right at the docks, where they came with the boat, using 20 golden walnuts. Once the resort exists, random NPCs will start visiting the place from 11 AM and 6 PM, as long as it isn’t raining.

If one of the visiting NPCs is Gus, he will open a bar where he will sell most of the alcohol in Stardew Valley. At Gus’s bar on Ginger Island, players can finally purchase pale ale for 1000g, along with many other drinks.

Though there are many unique drinks that Gus will sell at the Ginger Island Resort, you have no way of making him go there. So, you will have to spend a few days hoping that Gus actually goes to the island.

Also, the drinks, along with the pale ale, are relatively expensive. If you have money to spare, then maybe 1000g for a drink might not be a lot for you.

That’s everything you need to know about where to get pale ale in Stardew Valley!
