Metal Gear Solid 3 Remake Will Reuse the Voice Lines From the Original

Konami has cleared up any confusion regarding the cast for the highly anticipated Metal Gear Solid 3 remake. While the initial statement was vague, it has now been confirmed that the game will reuse the original voice lines from the 2004 version, with no changes or additions. Tommy Williams, the head of communications in the Americas for Konami, provided this detailed response to The Verge.

The original statement from Konami mentioned “all of the original voice characters,” leaving some room for interpretation. However, it’s now clear that David Hayter will not be reprising his role as Snake, despite implying otherwise on social media. As for the reason why the reveal trailer didn’t include any dialogue, it’s likely because Konami has not released any footage of the older dialogue in action. It’s unclear when they will showcase this aspect of the game.

The decision to reuse the original voice lines is reminiscent of The Last of Us Part I, rather than the trend of rerecording dialogue with a similar cast used in other recent remakes such as Dead Space, Final Fantasy 7, and Resident Evil 4. It remains to be seen how fans will react to the recycled audio, but the excitement surrounding the remake is still palpable.
