The Blue Moon update makes me want to play Fallout 76 again

The popular video game Fallout 76 has just received a highly anticipated new update featuring public events, daily ops mutations, and rewards. The announcement of the update, entitled Once in a Blue Moon, was made during the Xbox Extended Showcase. It shows a thrilling werewolf-themed storyline accompanied by a variety of monsters that will be attacking players’ bases, requiring them to work together and arm themselves to survive the virtual horrors ahead.

The update will be available starting June 20, 2023, and will be free for players who already own the original game.

According to Jon Rush, art director for Fallout 76, “a blue moon has risen over the hills of the Appalachian mountains” bringing with it an array of new content for players. Players should expect to encounter two new cryptids: the werewolf-like Blue Devil and the turtle mutant Ogwa. Both of these monsters will pose a threat to the Blue Ridge Caravan Company if nothing is done to stop them.

The official trailer for Once in a Blue Moon is short, but it offers a glimpse of the excitement that awaits. Its immersive qualities appeal to previous players of the game and those who may not have played it in a while, like the article’s author. Any initial apprehensions surrounding Fallout 76 have been somewhat quelled by the numerous updates and patches that have been released since its rocky initial launch.

The article is hopeful that with the success of Cyberpunk 2077, a previously flawed game that has since been redeemed, this latest update to Fallout 76 will prove to be just as revolutionary and go a long way towards salvaging the game’s reputation.
