Elder Scrolls Online (ESO) free to keep next week on Epic Games Store

The highly popular Elder Scrolls Online is offering a free PC edition next week on the Epic Games Store. From July 20 at 11 AM ET until July 27 AM ET, players can claim the base game for free and keep it indefinitely.

This is an excellent opportunity for fans of Skyrim to explore a new take on the beloved Tamriel and Elder Scrolls franchise without any cost. While the offer only includes the base game, it still provides a significant amount of content to enjoy, with plenty to do before considering expansion DLCs or subscriptions.

It is worth noting that the Morrowind expansion might also be included in this promotion, as it is now technically part of the base game. However, the Epic Games Store listing does not offer clarification, so we will have to wait and see.

The original story of The Elder Scrolls Online takes place around 1,000 years before the events of Skyrim during a major war across Tamriel. With a Daedric invasion on top of that, the need for heroes is dire. Players can explore numerous zones, engage in the main campaign, and experience an expansive world.

Exploring the MMO Experience

The Elder Scrolls Online delivers an MMO experience that lives up to expectations. Despite the game’s age, its graphics remain impressive, especially in the newer zones. If players are captivated by what they see, they have the option to subscribe to ESO Plus for $14.99 per month. This subscription unlocks a significant amount of expansion content, provides in-game currency called Crowns, and offers inventory perks. Speaking as someone who joined in 2021, the subscription is truly a worthwhile investment for those planning to regularly immerse themselves in this vast world.

The latest expansion, Necrom, is not included in the ESO Plus subscription. However, it expands the Morrowind region with a new zone on the Telvanni Peninsula. The combination of Necrom and the Morrowind expansion brings back fond memories of previous entries in the series. Considering recent statements from Bethesda and Xbox, it appears that The Elder Scrolls VI won’t be launching for several more years. This makes The Elder Scrolls Online the sole official source for new franchise content.
