PS5 Slim Reveal Reportedly Coming in August 2023

PlayStation 5 Slim Reveal Scheduled for August 2023

Speculations about the release of a slimmer version of the PlayStation 5, known as the PS5 Slim, have been circulating for quite some time. Xbox Era’s Nick Baker has recently claimed that the unveiling of the PS5 Slim will occur in August 2023 during a PlayStation event. Here’s what we know about the upcoming console.

Prior to this announcement, an Australian retailer hinted at the existence of a slimmer variant of the PlayStation 5. Furthermore, documents related to the FTC lawsuit involving the acquisition of Activision-Blizzard also referenced the imminent launch of the PS5 Slim, as reported by Microsoft.

Nick Baker, who is known for his reliable insider information, responded to a mysterious tweet from The Snitch, stating that he had heard about a PlayStation event scheduled for August 2023. According to Baker, the plan is to reveal the PS5 Slim during this event. He also suggested that the console’s unveiling might be pushed forward to counter Microsoft’s recent victory in the FTC case against Activision-Blizzard.

Baker speculates that the new console’s unveiling might be expedited to counter Microsoft’s recent success in the Activision-Blizzard acquisition case. However, it’s important to note that plans can always change. Rumors suggest that production of the current PlayStation 5 model will cease by the end of the year, with the slimmer version, featuring a removable disk drive, hitting the shelves in September.

The PS5 Slim is expected to have a sleeker and more elegant design compared to its bulkier predecessor. Sony has yet to confirm the development of any new models, including a PS5 without an optical drive. However, previous reports indicate that the design of the PS5 Slim will be virtually identical to the existing model.

Apart from the PS5 Slim, gamers are eagerly awaiting the release of PlayStation Project Q, a handheld device designed for remote play from the PS5. The official launch date for Project Q is expected to be within this year.
