Sensor Tower Reveals Most Downloaded Mobile Games for June 2023

Sensor Tower, a leading analytics platform, has recently published a report highlighting the most downloaded mobile games for the month of June 2023.

The report reveals that Garena Free Fire claimed the top spot as the most downloaded title. One of the contributing factors to its success is a crossover event with Spider-Man, which coincided with the release of Spider-Man: Across the Spiderverse on June 2. Garena Free Fire achieved an impressive 19 million downloads, with India being the largest market, accounting for 27.9% of the total downloads. Indonesia followed with 12.7%, and Vietnam with 8.1%.

Following closely behind is Subway Surfers with 18.5 million downloads. Similar to Garena Free Fire, India played a crucial role in its success, representing 24.2% of the total downloads. The United States and Brazil ranked second and third respectively in terms of downloads. Subway Surfers’ latest updates, such as the introduction of the New York map, new cosmetics, and the addition of Rain, the game’s first genderqueer character, played a significant role in attracting new players.

India: A Rising Star in the Mobile Gaming Industry

Once again, India proved to be the dominant market for the third most downloaded game of the month, Ludo King. An astounding 83% of the game’s 18.4 million downloads came from India. Indonesia followed with 4.9%, and Pakistan with 3.1%. Ludo King released a new version in June, specifically tailored to India with its Monsoon season theme, as a way to show appreciation to their Indian fanbase. It’s worth noting that Spider-Man: Across the Spiderverse features Pavitr Prabhakar, an Indian Spider-Man character, which likely contributed to raising Ludo King’s popularity.

Overall, global mobile game downloads remained relatively stable at 4.44 billion compared to the previous month. India dominated the market with 862 million downloads, accounting for 19.4% of the total global downloads. The United States ranked second with 8.4%, followed by Brazil at 8.3%.

Other notable games that experienced significant download growth in June include Undawn, Tencent India’s comeback title, which quickly rose to the top of the global download growth charts after its release on June 15. Robot War: Robot Transform and Traffic Rider also secured high positions in the rankings.

However, one notable omission from the top ten list is Honkai: Star Rail, a global smash hit game. Despite breaking records upon its release in April, it experienced a noticeable decline in fresh installs worldwide in June.

In a separate report earlier this month, Sensor Tower revealed that Dragon Quest Champions generated an impressive $10 million in revenue within its first two weeks of release.
