Red Dead Redemption is finally coming to the Nintendo Switch

Red Dead Redemption Coming to Nintendo Switch and PS4 Next Week

After more than ten years of anticipation, fans of Red Dead Redemption will soon be able to play the game on more than just the PS3 or Xbox Series X|S. Nintendo has announced on its Twitter that the action-adventure title developed by Rockstar will be available on the Nintendo Switch starting August 17. A physical release is also scheduled for launch on October 13.

In addition to the base game, players will also have access to the standalone expansion pack Undead Nightmare. This expansion includes a non-canon zombie horror-themed single-player campaign, two multiplayer modes, and extra cosmetic items. Set in an alternate timeline, players must navigate the undead-infested west in search of a cure for the plague that has infected their in-game wife and son.

Red Dead Redemption will be directly ported and not remastered for both the Nintendo Switch and the PS4. There are also reports that this version will be playable on the PS5. This is welcome news for fans of this epic Western game. Up until this point, the game could only be played on Xbox 360 or PS3, limiting its enjoyment for many. While there is still no PC option unless players resort to emulation, this announcement allows owners of newer Sony consoles and Nintendo gamers to experience the game for the first time.

The sequel to Red Dead Redemption, Red Dead Redemption 2, received much praise on the PS4, Xbox One, and PC. Although there are some performance issues on mid-tier PCs, players with solid builds were mostly impressed. For those without high-end PCs, adjusting certain settings can enhance the playing experience.
