Baldur’s Gate 3: How to Access the Harper Stash

In the critically acclaimed video game, Baldur’s Gate 3, players have the opportunity to find various treasures throughout their journey. While many of these treasures are easily accessible, others require a bit more determination to uncover. One such treasure is the Harper Stash. If you’re interested in accessing this hidden gem, continue reading our guide for detailed instructions.

Location of the Harper Stash

During Act 1 of Baldur’s Gate 3, players can venture into the treacherous Underdark. This vast and dangerous area is home to a multitude of secrets, one of which is the Harper Stash. To access the Harper Stash, you’ll need to locate its hidden spot near Grymforge, defeat the monsters guarding it, disarm any traps, and open the stash.

Embarking on a Journey to Grymforge

To begin your quest for the Harper Stash, you’ll need to make your way to Grymforge in the Underdark. Start by heading south from the Myconid Colony towards the Beach waypoint, which is northwest of the Selunite Outpost. If you’re having trouble finding the entrance to the Underdark, refer to our guide on how to get there. It provides detailed instructions to reach the Selunite Outpost, which is the recommended entrance.

Once you arrive at the Beach waypoint, follow the shoreline until you come across the Underdark Duergar Boat. Interact with the boat, and it will transport you deeper into the darkness. As you journey, you’ll encounter a group of military personnel operating another boat. Use your persuasive skills to avoid a fight, and they will escort you to Grymforge.

Exploring Grymforge

Once you’ve arrived at Grymforge, make your way up the stairs past the Grymforge waypoint. Keep ascending the stairs until you reach the large plaza area on the upper level. From there, head towards the right side of the plaza and follow the path that leads to a series of rocky ledges. Continue climbing the ledges until you discover a campfire and a red tent near stone columns.

Proceed to the left of the tent and follow the path downhill, veering to the left. As you reach the end of the ledge, you’ll notice the appearance of a white outline known as the Cragged Rock. Interact with it, and it will allow you to descend to a lower platform.

Descend along the area until you reach the edge of a cliff. There, you’ll find a suspicious treasure chest. Investigate the chest and discover that it is a Mimic. Prepare for a battle against the level three monster and the two cohorts it summons. Although they may pose a challenge, with sufficient strategy and skill, you can defeat them and save your progress.

Unveiling and Gaining Access to the Harper Stash

After defeating the monsters and ensuring your progress is saved, examine the Toy Chest. You’ll find it near the right edge of the cliff. As you interact with the miniature chest, it will reveal a larger chest—the Harper Stash. In my experience, the chest appeared underneath one of the defeated Mimic monsters. However, be cautious, as the chest is trapped. Use a Trap Disarm Toolkit to disable the trap and then utilize Thieves’ Tools to pick the lock.

Once you have successfully completed both actions, you can finally access the Harper Stash. In my playthrough, the stash contained a Scroll of Evidence, 17 gold, an Arrow of Ice, and a Grease Bottle.

Note: If you happen to reach Grymforge without the necessary tools to access the Harper Stash, you can purchase them from a local merchant on the upper level. By this point in the game, you should have accumulated enough gold to cover the cost of these items.
