Call of Duty Warzone Caldera Map Shutdown, Explained

The shutdown of Warzone Caldera was done so that the development team could focus on future advancements of the Call of Duty franchise, including the highly anticipated Modern Warfare 3. Unfortunately, players who have put time into this version of the game will lose their progress and in-game inventory. However, it’s important to note that the closure does not affect other gameplay features on maps like Al Mazrah.

Although the Caldera map is no longer available, players can still enjoy Warzone content with Battle Royale maps, Ranked Play, and the upcoming DMZ Beta. Additionally, Call of Duty: Warzone Mobile allows players to experience the game on the go, with more updates coming soon.

Warzone Caldera Shutdown Date

The online services for Warzone Caldera officially closed on September 21, 2023. Since the shutdown, fans have been reminiscing about the beloved location and sharing their memories of the original Warzone.

However, the Activision Support page has confirmed that players can still enjoy Modern Warfare (2019), Black Ops Cold War, and Vanguard through the same account used for Caldera. COD Points can also be transferred between other Call of Duty games.

Will Warzone Caldera Return?

Many players are wondering if Caldera will ever make a comeback in Warzone. Unfortunately, based on current information, it seems highly unlikely as there are no plans for its return. This has been confirmed by the Activision Support page, so we’ll have to keep our hopes up for the future.
