Eiji Aonuma, the renowned producer of the Zelda series, has had a remarkable year so far, particularly with the release of Tears of the Kingdom. However, his accomplishments in 2023 continue to grow as he has recently been honored with the title of ‘Knight of the Order of Arts and Letters’ by the French Minister of Culture.

As reported by French website Le Figaro, the date for the presentation of this prestigious recognition is yet to be determined. Nevertheless, Aonuma will join his Nintendo colleague, Shigeru Miyamoto, as a recipient of this title. Does this mean that the creators of Zelda are now real-life knights? Indeed, it does. Can they wield swords? Well, not exactly.

This achievement is truly remarkable and well-deserved. Eiji Aonuma has served as a director for iconic Zelda titles such as Ocarina of Time, Majora’s Mask, Wind Waker, and Twilight Princess. Additionally, he has been the series producer for over a decade. Considering the immense popularity of Zelda, especially at this moment, Aonuma’s credentials are truly impressive.

We extend our sincere congratulations to Mr. Aonuma! Having a couple of knights at the helm of Nintendo is undeniably remarkable.
