Nintendo and Arad Productions Inc. have officially announced that they are in the initial stages of developing a live-action movie based on the popular video game franchise, The Legend of Zelda. This new movie will mark the return of Shigeru Miyamoto, the renowned creator of Zelda, in the role of producer, following the recent release of The Super Mario Bros. Movie. Miyamoto will be joined by Avi Arad, known for producing hit films such as Spider-Man 2 and Iron Man, along with upcoming video game adaptations like Uncharted and Borderlands.
Wes Ball, the director of the Maze Runner movies, has been confirmed as the director for this highly anticipated project. This live-action adaptation of The Legend of Zelda will be co-financed by Nintendo and Sony Pictures Entertainment, with Sony handling the theatrical distribution.
