What Are You Playing This Weekend? (December 2nd)

Jim Norman, Staff Writer

Here’s my weekend gaming plan: I plan to finally finish the Metroid Prime Remastered game since it’s been unfinished for weeks now. I’m also thinking about playing Dave The Diver or Astral Ascent. However, with the eShop sale still going, I might end up picking a cheaper game to play instead. I also have Gold Points to spend so I’m considering something from a few years back. I’m also eyeing spending some time on Baldur’s Gate 3, so it might end up being a Switch-less weekend.

My goal is to play as many great games from 2023 as I can before our Game of the Year coverage, so I’m currently playing Octopath Traveler II. Although I don’t expect to finish it any time soon, it’s a fantastic way to spend my time. I also purchased an Atari 2600+ console and I plan to set aside the Switch for a while to play classics like Adventure, Yars’ Revenge, and Breakout 2. I love the no-frills, primitive nature of these games.

With a few days off next week, I’m aiming to finish some games and play others before Game of the Year approaches. I’d like to complete Super Mario Bros. Wonder and TOTK, as well as spend ample time on Metroid Prime Remastered. I also want to revisit Ghostbusters: Spirits Unleashed and play some Ghost Trick and KarmaZoo. However, I’ll probably just end up finishing Mario Wonder and spending ten hours playing around Hyrule while Ganondorf is still alive and well.

Have fun gaming, everyone!

The Game of the Week is the latest 3-in-1 Switch re-release bundle: Batman Arkham Trilogy. This collection provides great accessibility to some classic games, and I’m especially eager to play Batman: Arkham Knight. It’s time to get that Batmobile tearing up the streets of Gotham!

I recently bought Dave the Diver and I’m absolutely hooked. It’s a unique and engaging game that I can’t seem to put down for hours. Fortunately, my partner is currently hooked on FromSoft’s Souls-likes on the TV, so it’s the perfect game for me to play on the Switch right now. I’ve also started playing Ghost Trick: Phantom Detective, which perfectly fits my vibe — weird, funny, and emotional. Additionally, I’m indulging in some nostalgia by replaying Grandia II via the Grandia HD Collection. It’s been 20 years since I last played the game, so I’m excited to relive a childhood favorite.
