Cameron Monaghan Would Reprise Jedi Survivor Role In Live-Action, If It Makes Sense

Respawn’s Star Wars Jedi Series: From Video Game to Silver Screen?

Respawn’s work creating the Star Wars Jedi series has garnered widespread acclaim from both gamers and Star Wars fans. It’s natural to wonder if the beloved characters from the game could potentially make the leap from cutscenes to the silver screens. This question was recently raised at a panel at FanExpo Vancouver 2024, as reported by The Direct.

During the panel, Cameron Monaghan, known for his roles on Gotham and Shameless, as well as his starring role as Cal Kestis in the Star Wars Jedi series, was asked about the possibility of his character making an appearance in a live-action adaptation. Monaghan expressed that it’s not just about reprising the role, but rather about ensuring that the character’s appearance serves a purpose.

“It would have to be right. By that I mean, it has to continue the story or the character in some way,” Monaghan explained, as reported by  The Direct. “I don’t want him to just kind of show up to stand around and be there. I want him to mean something and for there to be a significance for the character itself. So, it would have to make sense. But in the right context then, yeah, absolutely.”

It’s clear that Monaghan is focused on maintaining the integrity of the character and the story, which is a sentiment he previously echoed in an interview with Game Informer in 2023.

While the prospect of a live-action adaptation is intriguing, many fans are eagerly awaiting the next entry in Respawn’s action-adventure series. Although there has been no official confirmation of another sequel, there have been reports of the studio working on a first-person Mandalorian game set during the height of the Galactic Empire. This has led to speculation about the potential appearance of Cal Kestis in this new project.
