Mechs and vehicles could drop anytime now in Helldivers 2

Mechs At 90% Completion

Ever since the original Helldivers game was released in 2015, players have been eagerly awaiting the addition of pilotable mechs like the EXO-44 Walker and APC. Arrowhead Studio’s CEO, Johan Pilestedt, has been teasing some upcoming Stratagems on Twitter, hinting at even more content dropping this month. With a promise of new Warbonds every month, players have already delved into the game files to get a sneak peek at what’s to come in Helldivers 2.

According to Arrowhead Games, the mechs are currently at 90% completion and are fully functional. They are just working on ironing out any bugs and balancing tweaks before release. Some players have already accessed files in the game and tried out the EXO-44 Walker in action.

From leaked gameplay, it is revealed that the mech comes equipped with a minigun for horde clearing and a missile rack for elite enemies. There is also a variant designed for heavily armored targets, known as the EXO-48 Obsidian, armed with autocannons for maximum armor penetration. Players can also expect to see the EXO-51 Lumberer with a flamethrower and a 90mm cannon once again. These mechs have limited ammo and cannot be reloaded, requiring players to call down replacements to continue using them.

With new Stratagems on the horizon, players can anticipate new ship modules that will enhance various aspects of the mechanized armor class, such as decreased cooldown timers, extra ammunition, and additional armor.

Variable Vehicles for Voyaging

Leaked information suggests that Helldivers 2 will introduce both light and heavy armored vehicles. One of the revealed vehicles is an APC equipped with a main turret in the front and machine gun turrets on the sides, capable of carrying all four players. This vehicle is expected to provide safer travel between objectives and sufficient firepower to combat larger enemy groups.

Another vehicle showcased is a light buggy featuring a machine gun turret in the back, drawing comparisons to the Warthog from the Halo series. With missions timed at 40 minutes and various patrols and side objectives scattered across the map, this vehicle will streamline mission completion.

Leaked Warbond Primary Weapons

  • CB-9 Crossbow: An exploding crossbow with projectile drop.
  • Arc-12 Blitzer Shotgun: An Arc-Thrower styled variant of the SG-8 Punisher shotgun.
  • SG-8P Punisher: A plasma variant of the SG-8 Punisher shotgun with explosive properties.
  • R-36 Eruptor: A bolt-action explosive rifle.
  • Displacer Pack: A backpack that teleports the wearer when taking lethal damage.
  • Supply Pack: Carries 6 supply boxes instead of 4.

More weapons are anticipated to arrive later in the game, including a plasma pistol, battle rifle, grenade pistol, laser pistol, laser-guided missile launcher, and a fire-and-forget variant of the missile launcher.

Lucent Opponents on the Horizon

Helldivers 2 may see the return of the Illuminate faction, known for their unique combat tactics. Instead of overwhelming firepower, the Illuminate rely on shield technology and disruptive abilities to impede Helldivers. They can also stun and damage players with electrical pulses.

Data miners have discovered files hinting at the Illuminate’s potential return, with new enemy types listed, such and Adept, Ghoul, Illusionist, and more.

Weapon Customization

In addition to new content, players can look forward to weapon customization options. Attachments for existing weapons, including underbarrels, optics, muzzles, paint schemes, magazines, and ammo types, have been found in the game files. This system could address weaknesses in certain weapons and provide opportunities for upgrades.

Furthermore, players may have the option to recolor their helmets to match their chosen armor set, adding a cosmetic touch to their loadout.
