Zelda Live-Action Movie Director: “I Want To Fulfil People’s Greatest Desires”

Live-Action Legend of Zelda Movie in the Works

Hollywood is gearing up to adapt Nintendo’s beloved Legend of Zelda series into a live-action movie, sparking a mix of excitement and apprehension among fans.

The film’s director, Wes Ball, renowned for his work on the Maze Runner trilogy, acknowledges the significance of the Zelda franchise to fans. He aims to satisfy their greatest desires with this adaptation.

Ball offers a glimpse into his vision for the movie, emphasizing his intention to create a “serious” and “real” cinematic experience that still provides a sense of escapism:

“That’s the thing I want to try to create – it’s got to feel like something real. Something serious and cool, but fun and whimsical.”

Comparisons have been drawn to the works of Studio Ghibli’s Miyazaki, particularly films like Spirited Away, suggesting a similar vibe for the Zelda movie. Ball’s admiration for the Zelda series is evident in his approach to the project.

In a recent statement, Sony’s CEO expressed confidence in the movie, promising audiences “an amazing tale of adventure and discovery.”

Aside from Wes Ball’s direction, the involvement of Nintendo’s Shigeru Miyamoto and producer Avi Arad, with Sony co-financing the project, has been confirmed.
