The Witcher 3’s official mod editor now has a playtest on Steam

CD Projekt Red Releases Playtest Version of The Witcher 3 Mod Editor on Steam

Exciting news for fans of The Witcher series as CD Projekt Red has unveiled a playtest version of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt‘s official mod editor on Steam.

Last November, the studio announced the development of REDkit, an official mod editor for PC that would allow players to create their own experiences within the game. This tool would enable users to craft new quests, characters, animations, and more, providing unparalleled flexibility for customization.

While the official release date for REDkit is set for 2024, Steam users can now download the playtest version for free. Simply visit The Witcher 3 REDkit official Steam page, request access, and you’ll receive an email notification once you are approved to participate. Make sure to have The Witcher 3 installed on your system for the editor to function properly.

CD Projekt Red describes REDkit as a tool for users to unleash their creativity and bring their unique Witcher experiences to life. Whether you are new to game development or a seasoned creator, the possibilities for creation with REDkit are endless – your imagination is the only limit.

The studio views this modding tool as a tribute to their community, emphasizing that it is currently in beta stage, so users may encounter some issues while using it.

Additionally, in conjunction with the upcoming sequel to Cyberpunk 2077 – codenamed Orion – CD Projekt Red has announced that a team of 330 developers is now dedicated to working on The Witcher 4.
