Nintendo Expands Switch Online’s GBA Library Next Week With Fire Emblem

Nintendo Announces Arrival of Fire Emblem for Switch Online Service

Nintendo has confirmed that the popular 2003 Game Boy Advance release, Fire Emblem, will be joining the lineup of games available on the Switch Online service. Starting from June 23rd, players who have access to the Expansion Pack tier will be able to delve into this tactical RPG, also known as Fire Emblem: The Blazing Blade.

This highly anticipated addition to the Switch Online service brings back the first game in the series to be released outside Japan. Fans of Fire Emblem will also recognize Lyn, the main protagonist of the game, who has made a comeback in Fire Emblem Engage for the Switch.

“In Fire Emblem, the nation of Lycia is on the brink of war after centuries of peace. As noble houses conspire, alliances crumble, and armies ready for battle, a mysterious figure lurks in the shadows, manipulating empires. Now, Lyn, Eliwood, and Hector must gather their own forces to defend all they hold dear and prevent the world from turning to ashes.”

“Throughout the game, players will recruit heroes, train them in various weapons and classes, and master their skills in battle. Strategize your actions considering terrain and conditions, and lead your units to victory by accomplishing specific objectives. But remember, in this installment of Fire Emblem, if your soldiers fall in battle, they are gone forever.”

Fire Emblem for the Game Boy Advance was previously released on the Wii U eShop in 2014. As the title celebrates its 20th anniversary this year, players can explore its rich history in our Nintendo Life feature.

In other exciting news, Japan will also be receiving Fire Emblem: The Binding Blade, featuring Roy, this month.
