JBL Tour Pro 2 Review

The JBL Tour Pro 2 Earbuds: Stylish Design and Impressive Bass

JBL has introduced its latest innovation in wireless earbuds: the JBL Tour Pro 2. These earbuds come with a unique feature – a smart case that offers a range of functionalities. While some of these features may seem unnecessary, the overall design and performance of the earbuds make them a great choice for bass lovers and those seeking noise cancellation.

Design and Features

Priced at $249, the JBL Tour Pro 2 earbuds stand out thanks to their innovative charging case. Although the case could use some improvement to be more than just a marketing gimmick, it does enhance the overall aesthetics of the product. With a glossy and matte exterior, a ridged interior, and a sleek body, these earbuds exude sophistication. Each bud weighs 6.1g, making them lightweight and comfortable to wear.

One drawback of the Tour Pro 2 is the short stems on the buds. While this may not be an issue for those with smaller hands, it can be irritating for those with larger hands. Longer stems not only make touch controls easier to use but also allow for convenient adjustment of the buds in the ears without accidental taps.

The buds come with different tip sizes, providing a good seal and passive noise isolation. While not completely cancelling out noise, the Tour Pro 2 effectively reduces external sounds to create an immersive audio experience. The buds also have user-friendly controls, which can be further customized through the JBL mobile app for iOS and Android.

Smart Case Functionality

The smart case that accompanies the Tour Pro 2 offers a variety of features, including media playback controls, volume control, equalizer presets, timer, flashlight, and a Find My Buds feature. While these features may be useful for some, many of them feel redundant and unnecessary. Most of these controls are easily accessible through the buds themselves, making the smart case less valuable for those who prefer to rely on bud controls rather than the case. However, the ability to change equalizer presets and set a wallpaper adds a personalized touch to the user experience.

Performance and Sound Quality

When it comes to sound quality, the JBL Tour Pro 2 excels in bass reproduction. The bass is powerful, making a notable impact on the overall audio experience. However, the treble could use some improvement. It lacks the richness and clarity that treble enthusiasts seek. Despite this drawback, the mids are impressive, offering clarity and depth.

The active noise cancellation (ANC) feature of the Tour Pro 2 is noteworthy. It effectively eliminates external noise, creating a quiet listening environment. The ambient mode, however, falls short and produces a noticeable hiss. The Talkthru mode, which is designed to reduce volume for conversations, reduces volume to the point where it almost sounds like the music has been paused.

Testing the microphone performance, the Tour Pro 2 proved to be effective in canceling low-end sounds but struggled with high-end sounds. Users reported clear voice transmission in phone calls and decent noise reduction in loud environments.

In terms of battery life, the JBL Tour Pro 2 offers up to 10 hours of playtime…
