NetEase Launches New Game Studio T-Minus Zero Entertainment

NetEase, the global internet and gaming company, has announced the establishment of its newest game studio: T-Minus Zero Entertainment. Led by industry veteran Rich Vogel, the studio will focus on creating an online third-person action game set in a sci-fi universe.

Rich Vogel himself has an impressive track record in the gaming industry, having previously launched studios such as Sony Online Entertainment, Bioware Austin, and Bethesda Game Studios Austin. He has also played a key role in the development of popular multiplayer games like Ultima Online, Star Wars: Galaxies, and Star Wars: The Old Republic.

While T-Minus Zero Entertainment is based in Austin, Texas, it operates with a remote-first approach, welcoming talented developers from around the world to join their team. The studio is actively seeking individuals passionate about creating original intellectual property.

Speaking about the studio’s vision, Rich Vogel said, “Our studio’s mission is to create epic, immersive worlds where players from around the globe can play together, forming vibrant and passionate communities. The team at NetEase Games shares our vision to create memorable and meaningful experiences, and they have made it a priority to provide the support and creative freedom to allow us to make our dream a reality.”

A Team of Industry Veterans

One of the notable aspects of T-Minus Zero Entertainment is its team of experienced industry professionals. The studio has attracted a talented roster of veterans, including:

  • Game Director Mark Tucker: With 22 years of design experience, Tucker has worked on titles such as Fallout 76, Doom, and Crimson Alliance.
  • Art Director Jeff Dobson: Dobson brings 26 years of experience to the table, having worked on games like Star Wars The Old Republic, Dragon Age Inquisition, and Mass Effect Andromeda.
  • Anthem VP, Operations & Production Scott Malone: With ten years of production experience, Malone has contributed to projects such as Fallout 76, Doom, and The Elder Scrolls Online.

NetEase Games President of Global Investments and Partnerships Simon Zhu expressed excitement about the new studio, saying, “T-Minus Zero Entertainment has been built with an inspiring roster of talented veterans with unparalleled industry knowledge and the passion to create wholly original gaming experiences. NetEase Games strongly believes in empowering creators with the ability to build games that will inspire players and evolve over time with its community.
