In an interview with Xbox On, Elba revealed that his involvement in the game started with a simple conversation. He expressed his interest in gaming and was approached to be a part of Cyberpunk 2077. As a fan of the game, he was excited to join the project and portray the character Solomon Reed.

Reed is described as a key figure in the Phantom Liberty expansion, serving as a sidekick and mentor to the player-character. Elba shared that Reed’s storyline is filled with twists and turns, making the character intriguing and dramatic.

Elba found the process of creating Reed to be interesting, especially as it was his first major role in a game. He praised the writing in Cyberpunk 2077, stating that it allowed him to easily get into character. His voice acting sessions were recorded on video to help the animators bring the character to life.

Throughout the interview, Elba emphasized the collaboration between the developers at CD PROJEKT RED and himself. He acknowledged the complexity of the game, which required recording multiple threads of dialogue to account for different player choices. Elba found the process to be challenging but ultimately rewarding.

Drawing from his experience as a DJ, he worked on selecting tracks for a new radio station in the game and even created three original songs.
