This rare N64 controller is set to sell for around £1000

A Rare Find: N64 Controller Unearthed and Valued at £1000

Hidden away in an attic, a rare N64 controller has resurfaced and is expected to fetch around £1000. The Foxdata N64 pad, which was a coveted gift to its owner on their fourteenth birthday, is now a hard-to-find collector’s item.

The Foxdata N64 controller is part of a series of four designs released in the late 1990s. The other designs include Desert Storm, Red Rain, Purple Forest, and Chrome Leopard.

Liam Clousdale, the fortunate owner of the Chrome Leopard variant, explained that he specifically requested this distinctive controller so that he and his friends could each have their own unique pad, thus avoiding any confusion during gaming sessions.

He recalls, “The Foxdata ones were amazing to me at the time as they were official pads but with custom paint jobs. I used it extensively and loved having the craziest-looking pad. Though the N64 has been packed away for years, I still remain an avid gamer.”

Recently, Clousdale’s friend informed him about a Foxdata pad that sold for a considerable sum of money. This prompted Clousdale to retrieve his old pad from a carefully stored box in the loft. He then reached out to a renowned auction house, as they had previously conducted a successful gaming sale.

Clousdale confessed, “I was very surprised by how much it was potentially worth. I’m happy to pass it on to a proper retro collector.”

The Head of Hansons’ Toys and Video Games Auction, David Wilson-Turner, believes that this range of controllers has become increasingly sought after in the video game market.

He further explained, “Though information is limited, it’s believed that Foxdata produced approximately 800 of these customized controllers across the four designs, meaning there may be less than 200 examples of Liam’s controller in existence.”

If you’re eager to own one for yourself, a daring individual is currently attempting to sell their Foxdata controller on eBay for €2000.
