11 Bit Studios Unveils The Alters Gameplay Trailer

Last year, 11 Bit Studios gave us a preview of their upcoming game, The Alters. Now, they have released a new gameplay trailer that showcases the game’s mechanics and storyline. The Alters is a sci-fi adventure where players must guide a lone astronaut named Jan as he tries to survive and find his way back home after a failed space mission. To succeed, Jan must rely on himself and multiple versions, known as the “Alters.”

In the trailer, we get a glimpse of The Alters’ gameplay, which is a mix of third-person exploration, base-building, and survival elements. The story is driven by the choices players make and the different paths they can take as Jan crash-lands on an unforgiving alien planet revolving around a massive sun.

The press release states, “In this desperate race against time, Jan must harness local Rapidium crystals to create his many versions: the ‘Alters.’ Operating from a mobile base that is constantly on the move, players must employ teamwork and develop a wide range of skills to ensure survival. By guiding other Jans along unique paths during the alteration process, players can unlock distinct skill sets that are crucial for tasks such as cooking, crafting tools, and gathering resources.”

However, the Alters are not just tools or resources. They are sentient beings with their own emotions, problems, and existential doubts. Despite their differences, they all share a common goal – to escape and survive alongside Jan.

The Alters is scheduled for release in 2024 on current-gen consoles and PC.
