New Layers Of Fear Expansion Puts You In The Director’s Chair

Layers of Fear Developer Bloober Team Announces Free Expansion and Celebrates 15th Anniversary

October 24 marks an exciting day for Bloober Team, the developers of Layers of Fear. On this date, the studio will release a new free expansion called The Final Prologue, coinciding with their 15th anniversary. The update, set to roll out from 1 AM PT / 4 AM ET, plunges players into the mind of a renowned movie director as he endeavors to complete his ultimate masterpiece amidst an increasingly chaotic set.

In Layers of Fear 2, players were introduced to a narrative that follows an actor exploring an abandoned ship while obeying the instructions of an unseen director. With The Final Prologue, the tables are turned, and players will take on the role of the director, directing the action of the film. They’ll face inner demons and external forces, culminating in a suspenseful and terrifying cinematic experience.

A Rebuilt Anthology and Teaser Song

For fans of the series, it’s worth noting that Layers of Fear has undergone a complete rebuild for the first two games. Bloober Team utilized Unreal Engine 5 to recreate the games and incorporated all of the respective DLC. As part of this anthology, they also added new content, The Final Note and The Writer’s Story, which helps connect the two games.

Prior to the release of The Final Prologue, Bloober Team teased fans with an “official” Layers of Fear song, performed by Natalia Szroeder. This haunting rendition of “You Are My Sunshine” received a music video treatment, setting the stage for the upcoming expansion.
