Sony Acknowledges PlayStation Stars Points Glitch, Fixes Balance

PlayStation Stars Glitch Causes Points Balance Issues during Holiday Period

Sony has officially addressed the PlayStation Stars glitch that affected players’ points balance over the holiday season in December. Some players experienced a lack of points for their purchases, while others received more points than they were supposed to. Both problems have been resolved by Sony.

Accidental Points Revocation and Corrective Measures

Players who previously reported missing points for their purchases are now receiving delayed notifications, granting them their rightful points. Those who were mistakenly given excess points have been contacted via email, notifying them of the correction made to their balance.

In cases where players already spent the excess points on PS Store credit or purchases, Sony has placed the PS Stars accounts in a negative balance, requiring players to earn back the points they were not entitled to spend.

An email shared on Reddit from Sony stated, “Unfortunately, due to a system error, you were awarded the incorrect number of points. The error has now been fixed, and your points balance has been corrected.”

Sony has taken similar corrective actions in the past, such as revoking licenses for games that were mistakenly made available for free on the PS Store, indicating that this practice is consistent with their previous responses to errors.
