Report: Respawn Developing A First-Person Mandalorian Game

Respawn Entertainment Developing Unannounced Star Wars Games

We have received information that Respawn Entertainment, the studio responsible for games such as Titanfall, Apex Legends, and the Star Wars: Jedi series, is currently working on a couple of undisclosed Star Wars projects. While details are scarce, insiders suggest that one of these games may revolve around the iconic Mandalorian.

Game Details

According to Insider Gaming, sources have revealed that Respawn is developing a first-person title where players will take on the role of a Mandalorian bounty hunter. It’s important to note that players will not assume the identity of the Mandalorian, as portrayed by Din Djarin in the popular Disney Plus series, but rather as a different character within the same universe. The game is rumored to be set during the reign of the Galactic Empire, with players tasked with capturing or eliminating various bounty targets.

Furthermore, the sources claim that the game will not follow an open-world format, but will instead feature more linear levels across multiple planets. Gameplay is expected to emphasize “mobility” and “style,” with a strong focus on fast-paced action. Players will have access to a range of Mandalorian gadgets including a jetpack for aerial maneuvers, a grapple hook, wrist rockets, and a visor for scanning and tagging enemies. The release of this project is believed to be at least a year or two away.

Other Star Wars Projects

While the details of this report should be taken with caution, it is confirmed that Respawn is working on a Star Wars first-person shooter. In January 2022, Electronic Arts, the studio’s publisher, announced that Respawn is involved in the development of multiple Star Wars games. One of these projects is an FPS led by game director Peter Hirschmann, which could potentially be the aforementioned Mandalorian title. Other projects in the pipeline include last year’s Star Wars Jedi: Survivor and a strategy game that has yet to be revealed.

We have reached out to EA for comment and will provide an update if we receive a response.

Future of Star Wars Games

Whether or not the information in this report is accurate, it is clear that there are more Star Wars games on the horizon. In the near future, we can expect Ubisoft’s open-world game, Star Wars Outlaws, and Zynga’s long-awaited Star Wars: Hunters. Further down the line, upcoming projects include Star Wars Eclipse by Quantic Dream, an unnamed Star Wars project by Amy Hennig’s Skydance New Media, and the potential remake of Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic.
