Ubisoft Reportedly Plans To Remake Assassin’s Creed 4: Black Flag

If you thought Ubisoft’s summer showcase was all about Assassin’s Creed, think again. According to a recent report from Kotaku, the company is taking its commitment to the franchise to a whole new level by remaking Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag.

The remake is still in its early stages, so there’s not much information available at this time. It will likely be a few years before we get to see it officially. However, one thing is certain – Ubisoft Singapore is heavily involved in the project. Ubisoft Singapore has been a key contributor to almost every mainline Assassin’s Creed game, particularly when it comes to naval combat. Their success in creating the naval combat for Assassin’s Creed III and IV solidified their position as the leading team for Ubisoft’s naval-focused game, Skull and Bones. Although Skull and Bones has faced numerous delays, fans of Black Flag are hopeful for a smoother development process for this upcoming remake.

Released in 2013, Black Flag marked the transition to the next console generation. It was available on PS3, Xbox 360, PS4, Xbox One, and Wii U. The game follows Edward Kenway, the pirate grandfather of Assassin’s Creed III’s protagonist Connor, as he navigates the Caribbean and becomes involved with the Assassin Brotherhood. With a blend of classic stealth gameplay, naval exploration, and combat, Black Flag is often hailed as one of the best entries in the franchise. Be sure to check out our review for more details.
