Indie studio Die Gute Fabrik halts production amid ‘tough’ publishing and investment scene

Die Gute Fabrik Halts Production Due to Tough Funding Scene

Die Gute Fabrik, known for titles like Saltsea Chronicles and Mutazione, has announced a pause in production due to challenges in the publishing and investment landscape.

In a statement shared on social media on February 26, the studio revealed that production was stopped on February 19 with no set timeline for resuming, pending securing funding.

According to the statement, “The publishing and investment scene is so tough for companies and projects of our scale right now it’s made it extremely difficult for Die Gute Fabrik to secure funding for our next project without a gap in income.”

Despite the setback, Die Gute Fabrik has ensured its current team received a month of paid time off before looking for new opportunities. The studio will remain operational to support its existing IPs.

While the hope is to resume production in the future under CEO Nils Deneken, the current industry climate has been challenging for many game development studios. Supermassive Games, for example, recently announced potential staff layoffs as part of a consultation process.
