Escape from Tarkov apologises for PvE mode misstep, saying it “did not foresee such a reaction”

Escape from Tarkov Dev Reverses Decision on Exclusive PvE Mode

Escape from Tarkov developer Battlestate has issued a second statement addressing the recent controversy surrounding its decision to lock an “exclusive” PvE mode behind a €300 Unheard Edition. In an effort to respond to player feedback, COO Nikita Buyanov expressed regret, stating, “We are very sorry that fans and the game community in general are experiencing these feelings.”

Previously, Battlestate faced backlash after unveiling a €250 special edition that included an exclusive co-op PvE mode. This decision sparked outrage among players, particularly those who had purchased the previous Edge of Darkness Edition with the promise of “free access to all subsequent DLCs.”

In response to the criticism, Battlestate clarified that the PvE mode was not considered a DLC and was, therefore, not in violation of their promise to EoD edition owners. However, in light of the discontent expressed by players, the team announced that the PvE mode would be made available to all EoD version owners for free upon the game’s release, once server capacity had been adequately expanded.

Further Resolutions

In a recent update, Buyanov stated, “Let me continue my feedback on the current situation.” He expressed his apologies for the community’s dissatisfaction and outlined plans to gradually open the PvE access to EoD owners. Additionally, Battlestate confirmed that MOD support for the PvE mode would be implemented post-release.

Regarding the Unheard edition, Buyanov explained that they would retain the option for players who wished to support the game at a higher level. However, adjustments would be made to balance items and perks within this edition, along with additional rewards for those who upgraded at the original price point.

Future Plans

Buyanov assured players that new perks in the EoD version would be balanced, and the prioritized matching option would be removed to ensure fairness among all players. Battlestate also pledged to introduce more unique content to highlight the EoD version, with specific details to be disclosed soon. Ongoing patches, content updates, and events will continue regardless of the recent controversy.

“Thank you for your time, love and hate, and thank you for your increased attention to the current situation,” Buyanov concluded.
